elcome!   There are so many schools of thought about the taking of supplements and vitamins.  Some say 'you get it all in a healthful diet' and others say 'you don't need supplements' and others say 'I wouldn't miss a day, I feel so much better' and then some opinions cover everything in-between.  It's really a highly personal subject and I wanted to find some more information on it since I do host a site that sells and recommends some superior nutraceuticals.  Doing the research is the most important step you can take, be proactive in your own healthcare.

Personally, I *do* take vitamins and immune system protectants, anti-oxidants and a multiple vitamin on a pretty regular basis.  I can't lie and say 'every day' because I forget to take them sometimes, but I am trying.  What I noticed is that my skin gets drier without them, that my energy levels are lower, and when I work at the Doctor's office, I tend to catch the 'bugs' that people bring in if I don't remember to take the extra Vitamin C, Zinc and Cat's Claw that I use for immune protectants (These are just my own personal observations of what happens with how my body reacts to nutritional supplementation vs. not taking my vitamins & supplements, it is not a recommendation or any kind of medical advice, for that you really do need to consult your healthcare professional.)

The most important thing about nutraceuticals is to study them, read everything you can get your hands on, study up on your own personal Rx medications (if you are on any) and learn about potential interactions with nutritional supplements - because yes, they do exist. 

And yes, some people are allergic to some kinds of vitamins and supplements.  Discuss it all with your healthcare provider after you research it thoroughly... you'll feel better about the answers you get, because knowledge is power.  You want to make the most intelligent & healthful choices for your own body.
